Liposculpture vs. Liposuction: Benefits, Costs, and Considerations
The terms “liposculpture” and “liposuction” are commonly used interchangeably, but artistically, they are approached differently. Liposculpture is intended to remove modest amounts of unwanted fat to create more attractive body contours, as it involves the use of finer instruments, more advanced technology, and a keener eye for preserving – as well as improving upon – the patient’s natural aesthetics.
For several decades, liposuction has been a staple body contouring procedure used by plastic surgeons. Typically performed under a general anesthetic, it can eliminate a significant amount of fat from numerous areas of the body, including the thighs, stomach, love handles, buttocks, and chest.
The cost of both liposuction and liposculpture depends on multiple factors, including the area being treated, the amount of fat Dr. Taranow will remove, and the particular technique used. Dr. Taranow commonly performs the high-volume superficial tumescent liposculpture technique. This method uses a solution of lidocaine (a local anesthetic) and epinephrine (to shrink capillaries) to reduce discomfort and minimize bleeding for better results with fewer risks, faster recovery, and less bruising. Depending on the patient’s condition, Dr. Taranow may employ the ultrasonic-assisted liposuction (UAL) method. This hi def liposculpture technique targets deep, transitional, and superficial fat layers for a truly defined musculature. Two of the areas not to be ignored, which may benefit from liposculpture with Dr. Taranow, are the face and legs:
- Facial Liposculpture – Contours key areas around the face to treat jowls, “double chins,” cheeks, and other signs of aging; sometimes combined with a face lift.
- Leg Liposculpture – Treats disproportionate distribution of fat around the ankles, thighs, and calves. An inherently delicate procedure, leg liposculpture should only be performed by the most talented and experienced plastic surgeons.
If you’ve carefully considered the several details associated with liposculpture, your next question is most likely: “Am I a good liposculpture candidate?” You’ll learn if this body contouring procedure is right for you during a one-on-one consultation.
